California Lutheran University (CLU) is a private liberal arts university located in Thousand Oaks, California. Established in 1959, it was originally known as California Lutheran College and became a university in 1986. The campus spans 130 acres and was built on land donated by Richard Pederson. CLU is recognized as California's first four-year liberal arts college and the first private college in Ventura County.
